The BMW M1 GT3 RS finished third in Mugellas third race after a first half dominated by Renault and Haas.
The race took place on the weekend of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
With a combined lap time of 5:52.832, the BMW won the race in just four hours and 39 minutes.
It is the sixth title the BMW has won in the FIA WEC and the first in Mudgellas three-race campaign.
The BMW has the second best lap time in the field behind only the Haas and McLaren F1 cars.
The Mugella is the third Mugelli race to feature the BMW M3 GT3, which is currently in its first season with the championship.
The second-generation M3 is a five-seater that uses a lightweight carbon-fibre chassis that has been modified to improve its grip.
It has also been upgraded to incorporate a new front wing and a carbon-composite rear diffuser.
The car’s driver, Marco Wittmann, also scored a point with a best lap of 2:22.932.
The top three points were won by Haas, which was joined by Renault, Renault 2.0 and Renault 3.0.
In Mugeville, the team that won the championship last year won the title for the second time.
