By H.G. Wells via ReutersA European car manufacturer will build the world’s most efficient electric car in its own country, the company said on Monday, unveiling the company’s new M6 electric vehicle.
The car is being built by French automaker Renault SA.
It is the first car to be produced in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and will be sold in Europe by 2021.
The company said the M6, which is due to go on sale in 2021, will be a low-cost, all-electric vehicle.
The car’s name, M6 Electric, is a nod to the company founder’s initials.
It will be able to drive from point A to point B in a quarter of the time that current vehicles take.
The company said it will have a range of up to 300 kilometers (186 miles), making it a great alternative to traditional gasoline-powered cars.
It will also have a “truly zero emissions” footprint.
Renault’s new car will be powered by an electric motor and will have an EPA-rated 0.4 liter (3.4 kilowatt-hours) battery.
It has a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour (186 mph), and the vehicle is expected to go up to 80 kilometers (50 miles) per hour in city driving.
Renaults new car is the second-most efficient car ever built in the world.
The most efficient car in the US was a Porsche 911 Carrera GT, which took 4,972 kilometers (2,936 miles) on a single charge in 2012.
